weird choice f21

so. i'm not gonna lie. i was passing through forever21 yesterday and noticed the usual knock off marc by marc section, some knock off stella mccartney stuff, and the other usual designer 'inspired' sections, but noticed a couple odd choices for the fast fashion mega-bot. namely these marni and LV bizarrro-land creations:

and a knock-off of this not so commercial coat in white. it is perplexing as the majority of f21 shoppers (a) are not familiar with marni at all and LV beyond monogram speedy bags and (b) would not desire these pieces in the first place. are they trying to grow their customer base or are they banking on those brands not noticing the blatant rip-offs?

marni-tellectual

marni and prada, jointly, are knows as the thinking woman's italian labels. not brash and overt like other brands that rhyme with snersace and snucci or snolce and snobanna. there are generally two schools of opinion on marni and prada's designs: some say their intellectual clothing is moniker just code for ugly shit that no one looks good in. others, like this'n over here, say to that party stick-and-stones-may-shut your-trap-cause-no-one-asked-you. give me these marni items for s/s 08 pls.

marni and LV:studies in wit and protection

glossed leather armor, cocoons to dwell in, outer layers treated as diaphanous under layers. not a haiku, but you should none-the-less appreciate the freshness of textile usage and the irreverence of form and concept.
