tricky tricky girl
Fashionista commented on newish clothing site, FarFetch.com, which culls fucking hard to find garb from around the world and places it at your luxury-deprived fingertips. The shop is a virtual mix of oak-opening ceremony-and lord and taylor with brands ranging from aforementioned opening ceremony and henry vibscov to balenciaga and christopher kane. The site is also segmented into 'personality' tabs with divisions like 'luxe', 'lab', and 'cult' with steers you towards designers more up your alley. The only fault that I can pin on FarFetch is a fairly major one, their price gouging is worse than Shell Oil. They list a MbyMJ cashmere sweater for $450, which considering the ever mind-boggling dollar signs on Mssr. Jacobs wares doesn't seem out of place. One click over to barneys co-op will gladly sell you the same sweather, on sale, for 180. Ksubi are also listed on FarFetch as being $450, which is at the high end of their mark up spectrum and they can be had elsewhere for close to $200. Though, this is all forgivable when you see that they have a nice collection of Margiela, See by Chloe, Vibscov, Bernard Wilhelm, and Surface 2 Air; designers that are hard enough to find in real life let alone in online. Farfetch does offer free shipping and the inflated costs can possibly be attributed to the fact that near all of the boutiques who's wares they cull from are in europe (currency conversion be damned). Until, then I will just have to be content with staring at the screen until either our economy inproves or the rest of the world's just gets worse.

later'd ladies
The Fall 08 Marc by Marc ads by Jurgen Teller are out now and stay true to previous ads with the spot flash lighting, semi-desaturated/obscured tones, and a gorgeous waif-y model skulking through the dreamy scene in slo-mo. This seasons womens wear model is none other than Cole Mohr. A fucking fine male model with endearing stick out ears. He turns out the Marc by Marc LBD better than 99% of the females who will posses this dress could ever hope for.
see this link for the M by MJ ad and below for mssr. mohr.

so creessy

pre-info: just this year designers have shown pre-fall runway looks. this is new. new new. and entirely retail, not vision/design, driven. you see, in real life time, january-early march and late june-early august are death for the retail world; it's those times referred to as 'winter' and 'summer'. generally, no high-end or directional lines set in stores in those months so buyers rely on late or replenishment shipments of already owned goods to carry them through to the big fashion seasons of fall and spring, but now with the release of pre-fall retailers have 'fresh' goods to bolster their profits in the summer death months. this can also be construed as an optimistic look for the next years economy with designers betting on people wanting to buy medium weight coats and pre-fall-y luxury goods in july. fyi: there is no pre-spring because resort exists, but it generally is not a big enough draw to be carried in stores outside of the 3 b's: bloomingdales, bergdorf, and barney's. so far only a handful of designers have shown pre-fall looks, most showing 12-24 looks posed in look-book/resort style and true to their purpose they are more conservative and would be appealing to a bigger selection of potential shoppers. however, chanel showed as well, and it's as if karl lagerfeld said 'homie dont play that' . chanel showed 64 (sixty four!) separate looks, menswear included and is said to be influenced by amy winehouse. some of the looks seem to be influenced, at least a little, by marc by marc jacobs circa 2003, but that is just me, you can compare yourself. he said she said aside, 64 looks is a ridiculous amount of clothing to produce, even just as samples for a runway show, especially when chanel already shows full 60+ look shows for fall and spring with resort clocking in with over 40 looks. so creesy.
